MONSTER JAM ROCKS ON CBS
Scott Douglass

Untitled Document Monster Jam's one hour televised special on CBS last weekend was a great moment for the sport and a major step into network television for this incredibly popular series.

From my personal perspective the current Monster Jam television show on Speed is the best vehicle available today to showcase these events from a coverage and results perspective, and the CBS special is the perfect way to expand and complement that coverage and bring this exciting sport into more homes than ever before. The excitment of Monster Jam is contagious and it's my guess that multitudes of new fans were introduced to the amazing athletes and vehicles that make Monster Jam what it is today for the first time during the airing on CBS, and who knows how many new fans will catch the fever and become huge Monster Jam fans after seeing what we do, maybe for the first time, on the network broadcast.

Very few forms of motorsports, or any sports or forms of entertainment for that matter, can compare to Monster Jam's excitment and fervant fan following. It's hard to find any form of sports or entertainment that can go from city to city, selling out huge domes and stadiums at virtually every stop year after year. Believe me, it is impossible to count the number of concert promoters and sports sanctioning bodies envious of Monster Jam's incredible fan following. That support from Monster Jam fans and the reasons for it were brilliantly documented during the CBS broadcast.

It seems like each year many of us leave the Monster Jam World Finals in awe of where the sport has come, both in terms of the drivers and trucks performances and the continuing growth of the serious fan base. We're always asking "can we top that, can they fly even higher and farther, can we keep growing the fan base at such a great pace indefinately?" The answer each year is a resounding yes, and that exciting hour on CBS is clearly another sign of the sport's popularity coupled with the commitment of every one involved in Monster Jam to keep taking this series to heights previously unattained.

The program was one of the best hour's of television ever produced to showcase Monster Jam and everyone who had any involvement in the project at all, especially the marketing and production personnel at Live Nation Motorsports should be extremely proud of the final product that hit the air. I loved it and I know I'm not alone.

Kudos also go out to the sales team that was able to enlist the support of many of the major Monster Jam sponsors. This program could not have happened without those companies stepping up to support it and I for one found it gratifying that so many of the sponsors already a part of Monster Jam became involved with the CBS show as well.

If you did see the show on CBS be sure to participate in the poll here at Monster Jam Online and give the TV team your opinions and feedback. Letting the televisioin production folks know your opinions is a great way to help insure that the Monster Jam experience, both live and in the media, remains the most exciting and satisfying family event in all of sports and entertainment.
