Monster Jam is back on CBS television this coming Sunday (4/27) at 12:00 p.m. eastern time with an hour sure to be an adrenalin rush for long time Monster Jam fans, and a great introduction to one of the world’s fastest growing sports for legions of new fans.
Having been lucky enough to be working on this project, I just left the studio where we’ve been putting the CBS Sports Spectacular together, and the action and stories woven into the 60 minute program are incredible.
First and foremost, in addition to highlights and behing the scenes interviews from all season long, this is the first TV airing of action from this year’s Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals. All of the highlights from last month’s championship event at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas look just as phenomenal as I remembered it from covering the event live. If you were there live I know you’ll be tuning in to relive so many memorable moments that were a part of WF9, and if you did not get the chance to be with us live in Vegas then you can’t miss this chance to check out the greatest moments from Monster Jam’s grandest event.
One of the neat things is that fans will be able to see the complete coverage of all the races that determined the World Racing Championship and every freestyle leading up to the crowning of our new World Freestyle Champion during expanded World Finals coverage coming soon to Speed TV. But this weekend the most spectacular parts of this extravaganza will be seen by the huge CBS network audience, an incredible opportunity for this sport that continues to experience exploding growth world wide, to reach even more potential new fans.
The coverage of the Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals tops the CBS broadcast for sure, but this weekend’s CBS broadcast is full of even more great action and stories along with the World Finals action. Among the extra coverage that Monster Jam fans are sure to enjoy is a special look at several Make-A-Wish children who got their wishes fulfilled; the chance to be on hand for this year’s World Finals and to meet their favorite Monster Jam superstars, and as it turned out, it was those kids that were a true highlight for the drivers that competed in this year’s finals. Another piece that I found riveting was when CBS cameras followed Dennis Anderson to New Orleans, as the Grave Digger icon headed a star-studded line-up that went ballistic in Monster Jam’s first Superdome event since Hurricane Katrina.
Again, this is a great hour of network television for the sport, so don’t miss it, and be sure to ask all your friends to tune in as well for Monster Jam action at it’s best on CBS!
Along with looking forward to the television program airing I can’t wait to get back into live event action, which I’ll have the chance to do, announcing the Monster Jam action this weekend at the Florida Motorsports Park in Naples. This event in that spacious swamp racing track in south Florida is a real spring highlight for every one involved in the event, and like our wildly successful winter tour in the Sunshine State, the Florida fans turn out to see their Monster Jam heroes in huge numbers. With most of the Monster Jam drivers having had a little time off since the World Finals, they will all be ready to go big this weekend in Naples, and the following weekend in Ocala as well.
