Monster Jam Spectacular On CBS Sports
By Scott Douglass

Untitled Document

Having just spent the weekend putting the final audio touches on the Monster Jam program that will air on CBS I can report that it is appropriate that we're on the long running CBS Sports Spectacular show. That word "spectacular" is perfect to describe the hour of excitement coming to network TV this Sunday, April 12th at 12 noon eastern time on CBS.

While fans will be able to see extensive coverage of the 10th annual Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals later this spring on Speed TV, this special Easter Sunday hour of thrills on CBS will provide the first televised highlights of that amazing weekend in Las Vegas that capped the sport's Decade of Destruction at Sam Boyd Stadium. Along with the first chance to see action from WF10 on TV the CBS Sports Spectacular hour includes great action from other venues and entertaining features with peeks behind the scenes that both casual fans and the sport's most fervent supporters are sure to enjoy.

Monster Jam's success on Speed has been phenomenal and gives fans a chance to see great racing and freestyle throughout the year. This hour of network TV coverage on CBS is a great expansion of the sport's televised coverage, bringing Monster Jam into more homes than at any other time.

I've got to give big props to all of the people behind the scenes who worked a ridiculous number of overtime hours with the goal of making this the greatest Monster Jam television program ever. While I am tremendously honored to have been selected to provide the voice on this project it was also a thrill just to watch the show come together in the studio as the producers and editors worked tirelessly to sift through a year's worth of incredible action to select the best of the best in terms of the highlights that will actually make it in to the broadcast on CBS.

This is one hour of television that is a must see (and must record) for all Monster Jam fans: the CBS Sports Spectacular, Sunday, April 12th, 12:00 noon eastern time.

Some other notes to pass along reflecting back on an amazing week in Las Vegas: I am beginning to realize that the pressure of being the 1st out to compete in the World Finals freestyle is something that up and coming drivers relish. Like Chad Tingler in 2008, Chris Bergeron came out first and set the bar very high this year in Vegas with a sensational performance in Brutus, so strong that he ended up 3rd in the final finishing order.....the racing bracket in Vegas proved to be one of the most unpredictable ever. I don't see how anyone could have had a perfect bracket in any of our World Finals bracket contests on line or at the live event. I'm sure that lots of people had Tom Meents in Maximum Destruction picked to win the world racing title, but how many figured that Alex Blackwell would have Captain's Curse in the Championship Race? How many figured Madusa would eliminate fast qualifier Frank Krmel and Donkey Kong? Did you have both Damon Bradshaw and Air Force Afterburner and Lupe Soza in El Toro Loco eliminating a pair of two-time World Racing Champions in the very first round, Bradshaw beating Dennis Anderson and Grave Digger, then Soza ending John Seasock's two year reign in Batman? Close finishes and a bracket full of surprises again made the NGK Spark Plugs World Finals a racing night unlike any other.....the Awards Banquet the night after the World Finals in Las Vegas was a wonderful celebration honoring World Racing Champion Tom Meents and new World Freestyle Champion Damon Bradshaw along with several others who have had great 2009 seasons. Drivers who have been doing a great job moving up the ladder like Jon Zimmer and Charles Beens were also award winners which was great to see.....once again the entire weekend, from practice day in brutal winds on Thursday, through a fantastic Double Down Friday, on to our historic 10th annual championship events and winding up with the awards gala, our yearly trip to Las Vegas not only lived up to the hype, it surpassed in big time. Like every one else in the business and fans world wide I am already looking forward to the 11th annual Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals in 2010!
