At the early age of 16, Bruce Haney raced motocross, before moving on to superbikes, drag racing, mud racing, and lastly, monster trucks.
By the time Bruce got into the monster truck industry, he was 38 years old. He started to attend as many shows as he could with his now wife to learn the ins and outs of the industry. It wasn’t long before Haney bought a truck of his own from Charlie Pauken (Excalibur), which he raced for 5 years.
Because of Haney’s incredible size (he’s 6’8!), he called Dan Patrick to build a custom Dan Patrick Chassis to accommodate his height in 2003. Since then, he has been off to a great run with his career as a monster truck driver.
One of Bruce’s most memorable moments as a monster truck driver is when he was given the opportunity to meet a kid that was blind and show him the truck. Bruce went over every aspect of the truck, and got the kid to use his hands to feel everything in the driver's compartment so that he could absorb the look and feel of the truck through his other senses. That moment escalated Bruce's ability to affect other people's lives in special way.
Like many of the other Monster Jam® drivers, Bruce goes above and beyond for his fans. This winning attitude translates onto the dirt showing that it takes more than just speed and skill to be a monster truck driver.
