DRIVER HISTORY
I currently drive the Air force Afterburner monster truck. I have driven Pastrana 199, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Blue Thunder and Monster Mutt.
My driving career started when I was crewing for Todd Frolic who was driving Monster Mutt; he pulled a muscle in his back and was unable to drive. It was a small arena in Canada, there was only four trucks in the show, in a panic I was thrown in to the truck being as I was the only one with the most racing background. As it turned out I won racing and tied for second in freestyle.
Racing is nothing new to me; I’ve been doing it since I was able to walk. Big wheels, bikes, skateboards, mini bikes, atv’s, cars road racing and drag racing. Racing a monster truck fell hand and hand with drag racing, which I’ve done most of my life, the only difference was after I cut the light there was a jump in the middle the track! But what rattled me was freestyle; I was scared to death! I had never had any seat time in a monster truck. I had to hit the backside of the car stack kind of easy at first. I stood the truck on the car stack nose in the air, as the motor went quiet I could hear the crowd and the adrenalin was pumping. I was just along for the ride then. Ever since that night I was hooked and had the bug. Then I scored the ride in the turtle. I enjoy racing, I’m very competitive mostly with myself. After each run I go through it over and over in my mind seeing where I need to improve, making that my goal for the next round instead of worrying about the guy in the next lane. I think that is what makes me race well. Freestyle is for the fans, I enjoy freestyle but I feel like I have the pressure to make every person at the show stand on their feet no matter what the next truck does. I want each fan to get their money’s worth. I want to see the smiles on the kid’s faces, because without them I couldn’t have a great job like this. I have accomplished some great goals in monster trucks, 2004 rookie of the year, 2-time world finalist. The world finals haven’t brought me much luck but I intend to change that around. I hope to see you on the road again soon!
