DRIVER HISTORY
|
Ray got started in the industry at 18 years old by volunteering at pace motorsports at the Hampton Colliseum. He was a volunteer track crew for 4-5 years and was around/able to help a lot of the big name guys. He then started traveling around at his own expenses to the places they were having shows at. During this time he was able to learn about the technical aspects and everything about the industry as a whole. He was a lifelong fan…he had attended the first show in 1983 at the age of 12 when they debuted Big Foot and then again at the age of 15 when they debuted Gravedigger. Prior to driving a monster truck, he worked for Virginia Power. Once he bought Wild Hair, he quit to drive full time. Currently, he works as a fabricator at Harris’ Truck and Body Shop. His goal for this upcoming season is to make fans aware of him as an individual and make it to the finals. He also hopes to be safe and wild and to have fun. His favorite stop on the series is the Hampton Colliseum because it is at home and it’s a tight arena which means better driving ability. He likes it better because you have to be careful and be on top of it to be able to race there. His career highlight was the pass vertical sky wheelie he did in Houstis, Florida. He has achieved his dream. What separates him from other drivers is the sheer volume of adrenaline that he gets before each of his freestyles. This has caused him to do 4-5 minute freestyles. If there was one person that he enjoys racing against it would be Dennis Anderson because he has se the bar and has lead him in the right direction without telling him how to do it. Dennis has advanced this sport and he is owed a lot for doing so. He is never too tired to sign an autograph and is just a guy to be looked up to. The advice he would give to someone interested in pursuing their dreams and entering this industry, it would be to make sure to do homework before making the decision to do it. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do it. Everyone in his life was very negative initially about him wanting to do this with the exception of his wife and he has proved that it can be done. He wants everyone to know that he very much appreciates the past and present drivers that have helped him out throughout the years.
