The Monster Jam Series is serving as the most popular monster truck racing series containing approximately 120 events.
At events sanctioned by the USHRA, drivers compete in both freestyle and side-by-side eliminations.
The freestyle competition allows drivers a limited amount of time and an open floor to show off their skills for fans that serve as judges.
Side-by-side competition is traditional bracket racing, where the first truck across the finish line (with the least amount of penalties) is the winner.
About the Monster Jam World Finals The Monster Jam World Finals concludes the Monster Jam Points Series sanctioned by the U.S. Hot Rod Association (USHRA) that runs from January to March. It is an invitation only event comprised 16 monster trucks at UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Two champions are crowned at the end of the event: a monster truck racing champion and a monster truck freestyle champion.
Racing at Sam Boyd Stadium is the fastest in the United States for monster trucks. Monster trucks “stage” outside the stadium and begin their decent of Thunder Alley at speeds up to 60 mph. In the true spirit of competition, racing is held side by side on one of the slickest dirt tracks in the country.
Monster truck freestyle is 2:00 minutes of keeping your truck together while hitting as many of the obstacles on the track as possible. Sounds easy until you realize the obstacles are freight train boxcars, school buses and box vans. |
