Weekend Race Recap
Friday - 20:00
( Paris, France ) Without question, the City of Paris features some of the most impressive scenery found anywhere in the world. Whether you visit the Eiffel Tower, Le Louvre, or Arc de Triomphe, you are sure to be impressed by the sheer size of each monument. And while the Eiffel Tower may be extremely tall and well constructed, so too is a modern Monster Truck. It was these awesome machines that French fans poured into Bercy Arena to see on Friday night.
Opening night action in Paris saw six Monster Trucks in competition including Hot Wheels, driven by John Seasock, Batman (Dan Evans), Superman (Chad Fortune), El Toro Loco (Frank Kreml), Grave Digger (Charlie Pauken), and Sling Shot, piloted by U.K. driving sensation Karl Swallow. The soft spoken Englishman was ready for the talented group of American drivers. The question was would Swallow have the experience to win in this pressure-filled environment?
The Monster Truck Wheelie Contest started things off and Grave Digger was the winner with a high score of 30 points. Second place was a three way tie between, Superman, Batman, and Hot Wheels. Rounding out the competition was El Toro Loco with 23 points and Sling Shot with 21.
Monster Truck Racing Round One paired Grave Digger against El Toro Loco, with Digger taking the win on the Chicago-Style dirt course. Hot Wheels got past Superman, while Batman defeated Sling Shot. Semi Final action allowed El Toro Loco back to the starting line as Fast Loser but the bull would lose nonetheless against a rocket-fast Batman. In the other Semi Final, it was Hot Wheels upsetting the legendary Grave Digger.
The Monster Truck Racing Final saw Dan Evans in Batman roll to the line against John Seasock in Hot Wheels. Seasock had already showed plenty of muscle before this important race, and he would not disappoint when the lights turned green. Hot Wheels flew off the starting line and was flawless in capturing the Monster Truck Racing Final win. Seasock was simply thrilled with the big victory.
Four wheel action quickly changed to two wheel action with the arrival of the Xtreme Sport Bike Association and Freestyle Motocross. When the XSBA were done with their bag of wild tricks, the FMX stars hit the track and showed France what flying is all about. Both Nick Dewit ( South Africa) and Greg Hartman ( Pennsylvania) were successful with their incredible back flip attempts. The fans responded with a huge round of applause.
Trey Meyers lit up Bercy Arena with his amazing Psycho Jet Quad. Anyone who is willing to throttle this lightweight and overpowered machine can be considered a true warrior. Meyers showed no fear as he hit the afterburner on several occasions. The fans were very appreciative as Meyers brought the Psycho Jet Quad to a halt and thanked the French faithful in their native language.
After bowing out in the Monster Truck Racing Semi Final, Charlie Pauken in Grave Digger would be looking to put his black and green wrecking machine on the podium. And when Pauken puts his mind to something, it usually spells “second place” for the rest of the competitors. Pauken was simply perfect as he powered Grave Digger around the huge course. From Sky Wheelies to Long Jumps to Donuts, Pauken gave the crowd what they paid to see. No other driver was even close. The final scores tallied as follows:
Sling Shot 17
Hot Wheels 19
El Toro Loco 21
Grave Digger 30
Superman 18
Batman 27
Don’t miss the action as we return to Bercy Arena for more Monster Jam on Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday - 14:30
( Paris, France ) Following a well-attended Pit Party at Bercy Arena, Monster Jam fans settled into their seats in anticipation of another great motor sports event. With trucks and drivers like Hot Wheels (John Seasock), Batman (Dan Evans), Superman (Chad Fortune), El Toro Loco (Frank Kreml), Grave Digger (Charlie Pauken), and Sling Shot (Karl Swallow) the building was sure to be rocking and rolling.
The Monster Truck Wheelie Contest saw Grave Digger set the tone with a perfect 30 score. John Seasock in Hot Wheels tied with Dan Evans in Batman at 28 points a piece. El Toro Loco scored 21, while Sling Shot earned 20. Superman rounded out the Wheelie scoring with 17 points.
Monster Truck Racing was a hugely competitive affair in Round One. Grave Digger slipped by Sling Shot, Batman defeated Superman, and Hot Wheels rolled by El Toro Loco. Superman returned as Fast Loser to take on Grave Digger in the first Semi Final, but Fortune would not have enough speed for the legend from Kill Devil Hills. Pauken advanced past Superman to qualify for the Monster Truck Racing Final. In the other Semi, Hot Wheels made quick work of Batman.
Featuring two talented veterans on the Monster Jam Tour, the Monster Truck Racing Final would be a great one. From the flash of the green lights both Hot Wheels and Grave Digger remained virtually even around the J-Hook course. Both drivers took full advantage of their fifteen hundred horsepower power plants but Seasock used just a little bit more. The checkered went to John Seasock in Hot Wheels.
Trey Meyers and his Psycho Jet Quad put on yet another top notch performance, while the Xtreme Sport Bike Association and Freestyle Motocross were equally up to the task. From Supermans to Strippers to Cordovas, the FMX stars had it all covered. They ended their routine with two awesome back flips, courtesy of Greg Hartman and Nick Dewit.
Monster Truck Freestyle Competition brought the excellent afternoon of motor sports to an end. And just like in the Wheelie Contest, the winner would be Grave Digger. Charlie Pauken was on his game from the first second of the competition. Digger showed the crowd some good old fashioned North Carolina horsepower as he rocketed his truck into the stratosphere. The final scores ended up as follows:
Sling Shot: 17
Hot Wheels: 25
El Toro Loco: 19
Grave Digger: 30
Superman: 22
Batman : 26
FREESTYLE WINNER: GRAVE DIGGER WITH A PERFECT 30!
With just a few hours to go before the Saturday night event, the Monster Jam crew is busy getting everything prepared for action. The track is being reworked, the Monster Trucks are being checked over, and the drivers are mentally preparing themselves for the big Saturday night show. It is going to be a good one. We simply can’t wait for the roar of the first engine!
See you tonight!

Saturday - 20:30
(Paris, France ) Following a dominant performance by Grave Digger on Saturday afternoon, the balance of the drivers wanted to be sure their machines were up to the task of taking on the legend from Kill Devils Hills. At 8:30 P.M. sharp, it was time for the third event of the weekend. The grandstands were full and the drivers were pumped beyond belief.
The Monster Truck Wheelie Contest witnessed a tie at 29 points between Grave Digger and Hot Wheels. Monster Jam Officials decided that a crowd cheer-off would be used to settle the tie. The loudest applause went in the direction of Grave Digger, and Pauken found himself once again on top of the podium. Third place was Batman with 27. Fourth place went to El Toro Loco with 25 points, and fifth place was a tie between Superman and Sling Shot who each registered a 22 point effort.
Monster Truck Racing was high energy right from the very first round. Batman defeated Slingshot, Hot Wheels took out El Toro Loco, and Grave Digger buried Superman. In the first race of the Semi Final, Superman would return as Fast Loser but would be put to rest by fellow superhero Batman. Hot Wheels got past Grave Digger in the other Semi Final race and it was certainly a very close one.
The Monster Truck Racing Final brought Hot Wheels and Batman to the starting line. And for the second time in a row, John Seasock piloted his ultra-cool Hot Wheels truck to the victory. Seasock was silky-smooth throughout his run and that was the formula for the racing win on the J-Hook course.
Following a great display of riding skill by Trey Meyers on the Psycho Jet Quad and some two-wheel action courtesy of the XSBA and Freestyle Motocross, it was time for Monster Truck Freestyle Competition. All six trucks were up and running and carnage would be in the “major” category. Monster Jam Officials Kevin Krohn, Andrew Palachko, Bob Quint, Dave Allison, and Randy Smallwood were kept very busy watching the high flying trucks as they looked for any sort of mechanical breakage. Dan Evans soon found himself flying upside down in Batman and although he was perfectly okay the body on the truck was damaged badly.
Avenging his early exit in Monster Truck Racing, Charlie Pauken in Grave Digger made no mistake as he pounded the obstacles into oblivion. Although several drivers showed well, none showed quite like Grave Digger.
The final Hot Wheels Freestyle scores ended up as follows:
Sling Shot: 23
Hot Wheels: 27
El Toro Loco: 25
Grave Digger: 30
Superman: 25
Batman : 26
FREESTYLE WINNER: GRAVE DIGGER WITH A PEFECT 30!
The fourth and final Monster Jam event of the weekend is scheduled for Sunday at 3 P.M. We invite you to come early and enjoy the Pit Party which runs from 11:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. There will be plenty of exciting things to see and some great drivers to meet and greet.
See you tomorrow!

Sunday - 15:00
(Paris, France) Sunday afternoon Monster Jam action at Bercy Arena saw the return of six Monster Truck stars including Hot Wheels (John Seasock), Batman (Dan Evans), Superman (Chad Fortune), El Toro Loco (Frank Kreml), Grave Digger (Charlie Pauken), and Sling Shot driven by Karl Swallow.
The Wheelie Contest was won by Grave Digger with a score of 25 points. Hot Wheels was second with 21, while El Toro Loco settled for third place and a score of 20 points. Batman and Superman tied up at 17 points each, and Sling Shot managed just 15 points.
Monster Truck Racing Round One saw Batman defeat Superman, Hot Wheels roll by El Toro Loco, and Grave Digger advance past Sling Shot. El Toro Loco returned as Fast Loser to take on Grave Digger in the first race of the Semi Final, but Grave Digger would put the bull out to pasture once again. In the other Semi Final, Hot Wheels smoked past Batman, making for the third Monster Truck Racing Final appearance in a row for John Seasock.
Seasock would find himself at the line against the black and green wrecking machine from Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The Monster Truck Racing Final pitted two of the top trucks and two of the best drivers in the world in Seasock and Pauken. Unfortunately, Seasock would fall just a bit short of his third Monster Truck Racing Final victory in a row as Pauken was simply too fast. Pauken steered Grave Digger perfectly and showed the fans what many years of experience can do for a driver. Without a doubt, Pauken deserved the big victory.
The Psycho Jet Quad returned to action today much to the delight of French fans. Pilot Trey Meyers used the afterburner on several occasions and easily lit up the inside of Bercy Arena. This particular machine is certainly not for the faint of heart.
The stars of the XSBA and FMX returned for more insane two wheeled action. For the fourth time this weekend, Greg Hartman and Nick Dewit executed perfect back flips in Freestyle Motocross.
Monster Truck Freestyle Competition was the highlight of the event. Each driver put on their “maximum aggressive” helmets and gave the fans a Freestyle Competition clinic. Not one driver looked afraid to use the loud pedal and the fans responded with thundering applause from start to finish. Frank Kreml in El Toro Loco pulled off one of his best Freestyles ever as he had the bull ferociously charging everywhere around the track. But once again Grave Digger would prove to be the truck to beat as Pauken pulled a power wheelie so high and so loud that it almost shook the building apart. Competition was very, very tight as is evident by the following final scores:
Sling Shot: 19
Hot Wheels: 23
El Toro Loco: 23
Grave Digger: 30
Superman: 20
Batman: 23
FREESTYLE WINNER: GRAVE DIGGER WITH A PERFECT 30!
