KONING BOUDWIJN STADION HOST OVER 33,000 FANS AT BRUSSELS’ FIRST EVER EVENT
Stockholm, Sweden - (July 1, 2008) – Ten massive Monster Jam® trucks roared back into Belgium for the inaugural Monster Jam in Brussels’ famed Koning Boudwin Stadion. The event attracted over 33,000 fans, making it Belgium’s largest Monster Jam stop to date and one of the most successful stops on the 2008 European Monster Jam tour.
“Five years ago we were the birthplace for Monster Jam in Europe when we hosted our first ever tour stop, and Europe’s first ever Monster Jam in Antwerp’s Sportpaleis. Belgium is home to Monster Jam, something we are very proud of,” said Manu Baff, Live Nation - Belgium. ”Since it’s inception, both the live event and audiences have grown, and, as a result, we needed a larger venue so we could meet the demand for more tickets and a floor space that provided a larger playground for these massive trucks. Today’s event was better than anything I could have imagined. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next year.”
“Koning Boudwin Stadion is the perfect venue for Monster Jam,” said Magnus Danielsson, Senior Director of European Events, Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc. ”A venue like this, which allows us to bring in dirt and embraces our larger then life track designs, enables Monster Jam to create a race course that is one of the longest in Europe and build a track with massive six meter tall ramps and obstacles like city buses. Tracks like this make it possible for our pilots to push these trucks to their peak performance and provide a show that has to be seen to be believed.”
Reigning Monster Jam World Finals Freestyle Champion, Adam Anderson, powered the Taz monster truck to victory during racing but lost to tour rivals, Maximum Destruction® and Grave Digger®, in freestyle. Both pilots amazed the massive crowd with speed, jumps and skills yet to be seen in Belgium, tying with a perfect score of 30, and awarding Chad Tingler and the Grave Digger race team the title in the crowd cheer off. Also competing was Belgium’s freestyle motocross sensation, Jimmy Verbaugh, and his team, FMX4Ever. “I’m so happy to be in my hometown at the biggest Monster Jam Belgium has ever seen. Today’s show was sick!”
