The first 5 stadiums for Monster Jam: Urban Assault are here! Some of them are new to the game, and to Monster Jam on the whole, and some of them were in the Monster Jam video game last year. Some of the biggest stadiums on the Monster Jam tour and largest attended Monster Jam events were held at the Alamodome, Dolphin Stadium, and Edward Jones Dome...so of course Activision had to put them in Monster Jam: Urban Assault this year. But we are really excited about including the Louisiana Superdome and Lucas Oil Stadium in Monster Jam: Urban Assault.
The Louisiana Superdome opened in 1975, and is the permanent home to the NFL's New Orleans Saints. The storied stadium has played host to the biggest concerts in the world, multiple NCAA Final Four's, multiple Super Bowls, the Republican National Convention, Pope John Paul II, the BCS National Championship, and in 2005 was a "Refuge of Last Resort" after housing over 30,000 evacuees after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Opening 13 months later in 2006, the Superdome was once again back on the map. Monster Jam set a Superdome motorsports record earlier this year selling over 60,000 tickets for the first motorsports event in the dome since 2005.
Lucas Oil Stadium is the new home to Monster Jam in Indianapolis now that the RCA Dome has closed its doors after an extensive concert, sports, motorsports, and special events history. Known best as the home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium also is a major site for concerts, motorsports events, conventions, exhibitions, trade shows and NCAA basketball competition. The unique retractable roof makes it exceptionally flexible for both indoor and outdoor events. The roof can be opened or closed in approximately nine minutes. Lucas Oil Stadium is a seven-level facility that seats 63,000 for football up to 70,000 for basketball, conventions and concerts. It covers 1.8 million square feet, features 137 corporate suites, two club lounges, meeting rooms, and two exhibit halls. Monster Jam will make its debut at Lucas Oil Stadium on January 24, 2008.
