Weekend Race Recap
Friday
The race fans that were in attendance at the Wendler Arena in Saginaw Michigan definitely got their money's worth tonight. Rod Schmidt and Grave Digger "took it to the hoop" in the wheelie contest with a winning score of 29.

Jocelynn Perrins, who turned out to the "darling of the show," really showed the boys how to do it in the doughnut contest scoring a perfect 30, MUCH to the delight of the ladies in the stands. But NOT to be shown up even by one point, Rod Schmidt and Digger "slammed dunked" another perfect 30 in his specialty, freestyle. It did take a very loud applause by the crowd to win it though because also scoring a perfect 30 was Dan Evans, Destroyer & once again Jocelynn Perrins with "Lil Miss Dangerous."

Another Michigan driver doing well tonight was Ed Eckardt and his Full Boar Ford. That duo took the win in the side by side racing portion of the night, also to the screaming roars of his homestate crowd.

Aaron Smith and his 90cc Yamaha literally had the crowd suffering multiple heart attacks pass after pass. We are talking MINI-MOTO freestyle. THEN came the "full court" shot, not once but twice, his now famous back flip!

The truly jaw dropping vehicle to hit the floor tonight though, had to be the flame throwing 2000 h.p. "JET QUAD." Warming the crowd with HUGE flames was Dan Carter and his jet powered quad. 2 more shows and highly anticipated pit party. See ya then!

Saturday 2PM
An afternoon of rain and sun proved to be a prediction of what was to take place inside of the arena here in Saginaw Michigan. Both wild action and unbelievable changes on the floor.

In the wheelie contest it was once again, Rod Smith and Grave Digger with a score of 27 taking the win. Breaking up the Grave Digger onslaught, Jocelyn Perrins and her Lil Miss Dangerous stole doughnut contest with a score of 29.

Freestyle is where the wild moments began. Dan Evans and his Destroyer S-10 blew an upper shock body completely through his truck fender and into the upper reaches of the arena roof. If it was timed, the shock was probably air borne for nearly 4 seconds! Dan scored a 28 in freestyle, but proving again why Grave Digger week in and week out is the truck to beat in that event, Rod Schmidt took the honors with ANOTHER perfect 30.

Making it 3 for 4, Grave Digger also won the racing finals.

Dan Carter on his jet powered quad "warmed" the Michigan audience with multiple passes and huge burnouts.

Leave it to Aaron Smith and a little 90cc Yamaha to steal the show when the crowd came to its feet pass after pass ending in a HUGE back-flip. One more show this weekend and the fireworks are going to FLY!

Saturday 8PM
What a way to end the season for so many of the competitors tonight! It was said by many that this was easily the best event of the year! It started out in the wheelie contest when the women in the stands were on their feet and out cheering the men by a large margin when Jocelyn Perrins and her Lil Miss Dangerous monster truck won the wheelie contest in an applause over the 2 other drivers she tied with. The names of those 2 drivers, Dan Evans & the Destroyer, as well as none other than Rod Schmidt and Grave Digger.

It then carried over into the doughnut contest when once again it was Jocelyn Perrins scoring a perfect 30 and tying Mike Nitzke and Rambo. It came down to the cheering of the crowd and it was very easy to hear that it was all Jocelyn.

During monster freestyle, Jocelyn came out first and set the bar at a very high level with a score of 28 and virtually dared the rest to beat her. Ed Eckert and full Boar came out next and was able to pull off a 28 as well. Then it came down to the final truck, Grave Digger, on his final pass slammed the cars, jumped high into the air and slammed the floor at perfect 90* angle to the floor. The floor literally shook. Rod had just tore apart the back of Digger for the last time in "04." Not able to move into drag racing, Rod and Digger were done for the evening. BUT, together, the 2 scored an amazing perfect 30!

On to side by side drag racing, with Digger and Destroyer not able to make the call for racing it left it up to the remaining 3. Making into the finals was Ed Eckert and Full Boar along with (surprise, surprise) Jocelyn Perrins and Lil Miss Dangerous. Taking the final checkered flag of the year turned out to be Ed Eckert.
Also a part of the racing action tonight, was probably the "warmest" guy in the building, Dan Carter and his 2000 HP "jet powered" quad. Huge flames and jet spurts rock the crowd and had everyone scratching their head in disbelief, more than likely wondering to themselves, "what is this guy THINKING!?"

But the most incredible thing of the evening took place on a mere 90cc mini motorcycle. I am talking about Aaron Smith and mini moto freestyle. The crowd was the loudest that I have personally ever heard, which pumped up the adrenaline to the point where he attempted a back-flip with a 360*. Aaron came so close to landing it and becoming only the 3rd rider in the world to ever land that trick, but came up just short and crashed HARD. The Saginaw crowd was so appreciative of the effort that there was a 3 minute standing ovation. After being checked out by the EMTs and given the tentative "A- OK", he came back out onto the floor and kicked off a last back flip for the audience.

What a way to end the year! Every driver, every race fan didn't want it to end, but end it did. We had a fantastic time in 2004. We will see you again next year! GOOD NIGHT EVERBODY!!
