Weekend Race Recap
Friday

The Monsters of the United States Hot Rod Association brought the Jonesboro Arkansas fans a wild and fun filled ThunderNationals Friday Night.

Quad Wars featured Team Fayetteville and Team Jonesboro in an all out shootout for points, cash, and bragging rights. With each team winning one of the early heats it was down to the main for a winner. Team Fayetteville cut the track early and took the win. Fayetteville thought they won the main but USHRA officals said they would hold the points until a review could be made. This review could take several weeks to complete and the teams wanted a winner declared. The only was officals would declare an overall winner was with a winner take all shootout. In the end Team Jonesboro won handily. The results of the Friday matchup will lead to even more determination on the part of the two teams for the Saturday night show.
FMX action saw three great riders going ramp to ramp in competition. Kyle Lovelace, Michael Gravette and Jason Rowe all turned in great performances with tricks high above the ASU Convocation Center. Many new FMX fans were introduced to the excitement of Superman Seat Grabs, Rock Solids and NO-handed landings. Michael Gravette was declared the winner for the night as the fans (many young ladies) cheered for the young superstar.

Monster Truck action saw the big boys and girls come out to play. ThunderNationals champion Virginia Giant, former Champ Black Stallion, Bad News and the husband-wife teams from Kansas Scarlette Bandit and Bounty Hunter filled out the field. Bounty Hunter had problems early on in the donut contest when he lost a spider gear and had to replace it missing the freestyle competition. He did make it back for racing. Black Stallion had his share of problems during the night. His rear steer locked up during freestyle but Michale Vaters jumped down from the cockpit, fixed the problem quickly and went on the win the competition.
The night was very competitive for the big truck with Virginia Giant within one point of donut winner Bad News and three trucks getting a 19 from the judges in freestyle.

The big story of the night was the race final between Jimmy and Dawn Creten. The fans were evenly divided between men and women as the two trucks lined up for the race. The ladies cheered as Dawn Creten cut a good light and sailed on the victory. After the race Jimmy Creten said the two had been neck and neck all season long. "She can beat me on any given night. She is a great driver and as long as the win stays in the family I can live with it. I just keep thinking tomorrow is another day."
