Weekend Race Recap
Friday
Thunder Nationals in Tallahassee what a perfect fit. With the crowd screaming and 2 Thunder national champs in the house what could have been better. How about Grave Digger and Pablo Huffaker. Unstoppable was the green machine on this hard concrete floor in front of a semi sold out crowd.

In the first event the wheelie competition was close with the first three trucks scoring 18, 19, and 22. But when Virginia Giant stepped to the line the crowd knew with the roar of the engine that Diehl was going for it all and what a score he got. Virginia Giant took the lead with a solid 28 but it did'nt last long. Digger came to the line and wheelied over the cars and half way across the arena to take the win with a perfect 30.

The doughnuts were fierce as was the battle for the win. Bad News spun of a nice doughnut to break into the twentys along with Rambo. And when Virginia Giant tooks it s turn it cycloned into the lead right before breaking his Transfer box. Then It was Diggers turn to blacken the concrete floor with another perfect score from the judges and his second win.

Next came freestyle and with little to work with on the floor each truck was impressive as they all worked the crowd as best they could. You could tell that each driver was gunning to take Digger out of at least one win tonight and the scores showed. Rambo took the lead with his run that beat out Bad News by only one Point. But in the end the high flying Digger took another perfect score and victory.

Finally the time came when everyone was ready for head to head battle. The racing came down to Iron Warrior taking on Bad News and Rambo Trying to eliminate Virginia Giant. Diehl Wilson and his crew worked hard to get Virginia Giant ready for racing and it paid off. Giant beat Rambo and Iron Warrior beat Bad News. The loser out of it all was Rambo who hammered the throttle of the line and broke the transmission and was done for the night. The battle then came down to the semi finals were fast loser Bad News met Digger and Iron Warrior took on Virginia Giant. The surprise was Iron warrior beating Giant by a nose and making it to the finals against Grave Digger. Digger was first off the line when the green light flew and from there it was all over for Iron Warrior as Digger swept all events and the crowd was going wild.

The quad wars faced off with Florida against Florida State in what was to be a fierce rival. The Seminols took the first win for the home team and looked to take all three heats. But in the second heat Florida rallied back with a bit of cheating that wasn't caught by the official. The Crowd was getting restless as the two teams battled for the final race and Florida again won. It wasn't over as Florida states captain challenged Florida captain to a grudge match - 4 lap shoot out winner take all. After the battle home team Florida State won and the crowd went crazy.

Saturday
Wow is all I can say about Thunder Nationals in Tallahassee! Virginia Giant was on a roll as he won three events tonight ousting the compition. The wheelie contest was again close between all the trucks and when it was done another perfect score came from Grave Digger. Pablo took Digger straight up and never came down until he cleared all five cars. The crowd was on their feet cheering as they waqited for the judges score. Virginia Giant and Iron Warrior had some prety awesome wheelies but it was'nt enough to over come the wrath of Digger.

In the doughnut contest evryone was out to get Digger and got they did. Bad news had a great run when Bruce held the steering wheel out the window in the middle of his cyclone. I thought this would have definatley given him a near perfect score but he fell short by a few points. Then it was Diggers turn and turn he could'nt do. Pablo was haveing problems getting the tires to let loose and finally punched the gas and when he did the truck spun through its doughnut and in to the stack of cars. This flipped Digger on to its side as the crowd went wild. Pablo quickly crawled out and waved to the crowd. The judges gave him a score of 27 and the lead. This let the door open for Deil and his Virginia Giant and closed it they did with a perfect score of 30 and a new winner for the weekend.

Virginia Giant didn't stop there. He went three for three by wining the freestyle and the finals. The crowd loved the hard running Giant and cheered every time it started up. Iron Warrior put in a good score of 22 and Bad News was right behind with a 20 but both were not enough for the 26 of Virginia Giant. Grave Digger was unable to run For freestyle because he broke a rear axle when he flipped in the doughnut contest.

In the finals Iron Warrior was tough beating Bad News by a half a truck length. Giant also one in the first round by beating Rambo. This set up a great finish to a awesome night of racing when Virginia Giant edge out Iron Warrior by a bumper and it was so close we had to see it again on the replay screen. This gave three wins to Diehl Wilson and his Virginia Giant and the crowd loved his doughnut to finish the night.

Quad Wars was fierce as the Gators beat and banged their way to a win in the second round and third to set up a grudge match for the final. Joey Whitlow had switched jerseys of one of his riders in the final race and when the orange jersey crossed the finish line the crowd roared for the seminals. But as it turned out the Gators tore the shirt of the rider and it was a gator who actually one the race. This realley made the crowd mad and they were booing the decision to let the Gators win. The captain of the Seminol team challenged the gators captain to a three lap shoot out and the crowd wanted to see it happen. So the green flaged dropped and the race was on for the title. On the last lap Seminols took the inside corner and took out the Gators captain for the finish. This settled the dispute and the crowd loved it that the Seminols won the war.
