Weekend Race Recap
Friday
The birthplace of "rock & roll," Memphis, Tennessee and all the race fans in attendance, witnessed another rising super star. It wasn't another rock band, but a monster truck driver. Brian Barthel and his "Little Tiger" ford swept through 3 of 4 events tonight. He first nailed the wheelie contest after an applause win against his teammate Chad Tingler and "Ragin Steel." The doughnut contest had EVERY competitor smoking their tires but the winner (after the smoke cleared) turned out to be Mike Hawkins and his "Equilizer" S-10. It was all "Little Tiger" and Brian Barthel after that. Scoring a winning 28 in freestyle, and showing the monster world why he is the defending world champion in racing. Easily taking the checkers in that event as well. Making its first appearance in Memphis, was the, get this, The HIGH horsepower, flat out, no doubt about it, (lawnmower racers.) The funniest thing to see was the crowd and their disbelieving expressions when they hit the track, but what a screaming high speed race they put on. The cherry on top of the (hot) racing action would have to be the freestyle motocross riders Tyler Kyle, Michael Hicks,& Will Kimbraugh. The fans and their screaming brought the boys out a second time for what is turning out to be fan favorite, (the train.) What a way to end the show. One more show tomorrow night. Lets get ready to rock and roll, Memphis style!

Saturday
With the threat of a winter storm warning, The Pyramid Arena in Memphis, Tennessee had a storm of its own going on inside.  It was as if the racing gods ordered the drivers to take it up a notch.  Chad Tingler and his Ragin Steel chevrolet won the wheelie contest and then to end the night, in a MAJOR upset, nailed the start in racing and took it to Brian Barthel and Little Tiger.  In the doughnut contest, Mike Hawkins and Equilizer made it a clean sweep of the weekend with another win.  In freestyle, Brian Barthel and Little Tiger, with virtually no cars remaining or obsticals left still was able to pull off a perfect score of 30.  Freestyle motocrossers, Tyler Kyle, Michael Hicks, and Will Kimbraugh had the crowd slaping themselves in the forehead in disbelief, jump after jump.  And, Iwouldnt be surprised if there is an influx of new competitors in  the rather quietly growing sport of riding lawnmower racing.  The fans couldnt believe the speeds that some of these "riders" were capable of reaching.  A few were even "LOUDER" than the monster trucks.  A great night of family fun and action were had by all.
