Weekend Race Recap

Saturday Afternoon:

Lancaster, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2004) -- The Antelope Valley Fairgrounds hosted six raging monster trucks this afternoon, among them: Scarlet Bandit, Bounty Hunter, Grave Digger, and Blacksmith.  Monster truck racing eliminated to Bounty Hunter and Grave Digger.  With furious speed, Bounty took the afternoon racing win.

In monster truck freestyle competition Grave Digger and Bounty Hunter both scored a 30 from the judges.  By the crowd's decision, Grave Digger earned the win, although Bounty Hunter had jumped the a pyramid van stack and flew across the entire racing track.  Grave Digger's cyclone donuts which kicked up so much dust that the crowd could barely see the truck were more impressive.

Quad Wars teams Antelope Valley and Team Stockton battled for the afternoon championship.  Team Stockton won both heats, however, in the earn Team Antelope Valley rallied the crowd and pulled out the main event win.

Saturday Evening:

Lancaster, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2004) -- Once again six monster trucks lined for battle at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, Calif.  The monster trucks entered the fairgrounds two by two, like a monster truck train, and jumped the obstacles in tandem, to open the event for the fans.  Racing eliminated down to team members racing against one another.  Grave Digger raced against Blacksmith in the semi-final for a spot in the final.  Bounty Hunter and Scarlet Bandit raced in a semi-final for a spot in the final with Bounty Hunter taking the win.

The final monster truck, Bounty Hunter vs. Grave Digger put Bounty Hunter in the winner's circle.

In monster truck freestyle competition, Bounty Hunter awed the crowed with his high-flying van stack jump and earned a perfect 30.  Grave Digger did not impress the judges for the evening competition as much with his cyclone donuts, only earning a 28.

Quad Wars teams Antelope Valley and Team Stockton battled for the evening championship.  Team Stockton won a heat and Team Antelope Valley won a heat.  Team Stockton took the Main event win but rallied the crowd for a grudge match and won by decision.

Sunday Afternoon:

Lancaster, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2004) -- Only five monster trucks were able to make the Monster Jam show this afternoon at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, Calif.  Scarlet Bandit had engine problems after Saturday night's performance and she and her teammate and husband were unable to repair the mechanical problems before this afternoon's show.

The hot, dry, Santa Ana winds returned to the Valley for a Sunday afternoon racing competition that was filled with suprises.  Obsession beat Bounty Hunter for a spot in the monster truck finals. Hometown hero, Rick Swanson in the Obsession monster truck took the line against Grave Digger.  Grave Digger took the win, but the crowd was torn, wanting to see their local monster take home a trophy for the afternoon.

In monster truck freestyle Grave Digger again took the prize, with a 28.  However, the judges scored Obsession not far behind the winner with a 26.

Quad Wars team Antelope Valley came away with a victory for their hometown after a hard-fought main event grudge match against Team Stockton.
