Weekend Race Recap

Saturday 2:00 PM - (London, ON) The 2007 Partsource Monster Jam began Saturday at 2 P.M. at John Labatt Centre and played to a sold out crowd. There was some serious talent in the pit area including Rap Attack (Dave Rappach), Brutus (Chris Bergeron), Safe Auto (Mark McDonald), Avenger (Jim Koehler), and Grave Digger, piloted by the fearless Rod Schmidt.

Jim Koehler in Avenger would be the man to win the day’s first event as the competitors took to the track for the Wheelie Competition. Koehler offered up a simply awesome Sky-Wheelie and the Pizza Pizza Judges responded with 29 points for his efforts. Brutus wound up in second place with 28 points, while Safe Auto scored 25 capturing third place in the process. Grave Digger earned 24 points, while Rap attack rounded out scoring with 23 points.

In Monster Jam Racing Round One Grave Digger drew the bye run. Pairings included Brutus against Safe Auto and Avenger against Rap Attack. It would be Brutus and Avenger coming out of the round. Safe Auto would be named the Fast Loser.

Monster Jam Racing Semi Final action saw Safe Auto go down against Grave Digger and Brutus lose to teammate Avenger. This made for an Avenger/Grave Digger Monster Jam Racing Final. Both drivers were ready for this very important race but none was more ready than Rod Schmidt in Grave Digger. Schmidt exploded off the starting line and never looked back as he flew the black and green wrecking machine across the Partsource Finish Line.

Partsource Monster Jam Freestyle Competition was a wild affair as several drivers made great use of the huge pyramid obstacle. The Pizza Pizza Judges seemed to be particularly accurate with their scorecards as the drivers pounded the crush cars into oblivion. Great runs in Partsource Freestyle Competition came from Safe Auto, Rap Attack, Brutus, and Avenger. Before Rod Schmidt in Grave Digger took to the track the high score stood at 29 points and was held by Mark McDonald in Safe Auto. Grave Digger would storm out and have a great run, but was only able to tie Safe Auto at 29. A crowd cheer off was used to settle the tie and in the end it was Grave Digger and driver Rod Schmidt on the Partsource Freestyle Podium. Freestyle scores for all competitors ended up as follows:

RAP ATTACK: 27
BRUTUS: 24
SAFE AUTO: 29
AVENGER: 28
GRAVE DIGGER: 29

FREESTYLE WINNER: GRAVE DIGGER!

Following the event Monster Jam Technical Officials Denny Climes, Jackie Kmetz, Kami Killinger, and Dee Dee Walters went to work in order to get the track ready for tonight’s 7:30 P.M. event. With carnage all over the track there is no doubt that these talented Monster Jam staff members have their work cut out for them.

We’ll see you at 7:30 P.M. for more Monster Jam action here at JLC.

Saturday 7:30 PM - (London, ON) Saturday Night Monster Jam action at the John Labatt Centre would revolve around a friendly, soft spoken man from the state of Oklahoma. Winning two of three elements on any given night is certainly a tough task. On this night, however, Mark McDonald in Safe Auto not only dominated the competition but looked very stylish in the process.

McDonald showed unbelievable poise as he drove his well-prepared Safe Auto machine to wins in Monster Jam Racing and Partsource Monster Jam Freestyle Competition. The racing win would not come easy as Rod Schmidt in Grave Digger just happened to be the guy over in the opposite lane. But McDonald would not be intimidated by the tough team from Kill Devils Hills, North Carolina as he stomped on the loud pedal and drove to the big victory.

Partsource Monster Jam Freestyle Competition was intense from start to finish. Dave Rappach in Rap Attack started out with a strong effort but quickly found himself upside down in a very narrow area between the crush cars and the hockey boards. And if it wasn’t for some outstanding work by Monster Jam Officials Denny Climes, Jackie Kmetz, and Kami Killinger, this event might have been delayed for a very long time. However, this dynamic trio carefully hooked the chains in all the right places and moments later Rap Attack was back on its wheels. Rappach earned just 13 points for his abbreviated effort.

With the track clear and the fans ready for more Monster Jam Freestyle Competition, the action continued with Chris Bergeron in Brutus. Bergeron offered up some brilliant Sky Wheelies on route to a score of 22 points. Teammate and 2003 World Freestyle Champion Jim Koehler wasn’t quite as lucky as he coaxed a score of just 17 points from the Pizza Pizza Judges. Grave Digger driver Rod Schmidt looked competitive as he gave the crowd a huge donut earning a score of 26 points. But the drivers simply could not stop Mark McDonald in Safe Auto as he stole the Partsource Monster Jam Freestyle Competition with a score of 27 points.

In other motor sports action, Team London defeated Team Kitchener in a wild Quad Wars Final while Jim Koehler in Avenger took the victory in the Wheelie Competition with a score of 22 points.

Don’t miss the action as Monster Jam returns to the John Labatt Centre on Sunday at 2 P.M.!

Sunday 2:00 PM - (London, ON) The third and final Partsource Monster Jam began Sunday at 2 P.M. at John Labatt Centre. Returning for action were Rap Attack (Dave Rappach), Brutus (Chris Bergeron), Safe Auto (Mark McDonald), Avenger (Jim Koehler), and Grave Digger (Rod Schmidt).

Jim Koehler in Avenger took top honors in the Monster Jam Wheelie Competition with a score of 27 points. Brutus was second with 24 points, while Rap Attack and Grave Digger tied with 22 points each. Mark McDonald in Safe Auto rounded out scoring with a 19 point effort.

Monster Jam Racing Round One Grave Digger draw the bye run. In side-by-side drag racing action Safe Auto defeated Rap Attack while Avenger defeated Brutus.

Monster Jam fans enjoyed some very competitive Semi Final racing action. Grave Digger defeated Brutus in a very close race while Safe Auto managed to squeak by Avenger.

Moving into the Monster Jam Racing Final Rod Schmidt in Grave Digger was looking for redemption against Mark McDonald in Safe Auto. After Safe Auto’s dramatic racing win on Saturday night, Schmidt would need a heroic effort to knock off the confident Safe Auto driver. When the lights blinked green, Schmidt powered on the throttle and kept Grave Digger on a low flight path over the crush cars. Safe Auto had a great start but could not keep the black and green wrecking machine from taking the win. Needless to say Rod Schmidt was thrilled with the big victory.

Partsource Monster Jam Freestyle Competition was a great opportunity for Rod Schmidt in Grave Digger to continue his winning ways. Mark McDonald in Safe Auto, however, had other ideas. McDonald piloted his Safe Auto machine to new heights inside the John Labatt Centre. His strong effort earned him a score of 27 points. Jim Koehler in Avenger experienced mechanical difficulties and managed a score of just 13 points. Safe Auto managed to hold on to the Freestyle Competition lead until Grave Digger took to the track. Schmidt had the black and green wrecking machine at its very best as he brought the fans to their feet with some absolutely unbelievable maneuvers. The Freestyle scores ended as follows:

RAP ATTACK: 20
BRUTUS: 18
SAFE AUTO: 27
AVENGER: 13
GRAVE DIGGER: 28

FREESTYLE WINNER: GRAVE DIGGER!
