Weekend Race Recap
Saturday - 7:30PM
There was a threat of rain in the local forcasts, but there was no way we were even thinking of the possibility. An absolute capacity crowd was on hand to witness legends cars, ¾ midgets, rhinos, a jet semi, and of course, 12 of the west coast’s baddest monster trucks.
In the Richard’s RV Centers qualifying session, it was a California boy, Dan Radoni & his Patriot Chevy Monster setting fast time of the night. When it came to the Hahm Motorsports Monster Jam racing finals, it was a quiet and methodical run from round 1 all the way to the championship for Phil Foster and Tropical Thunder.
For the 1st time in a stadium setting, off road rhinos hit the floor and had a whale of a battle going between ALL 14 race machines. In the end, it was Dana Creech more known as a quad national champion taking the main event win. To say he had the proverbial “goofy grin” that just wouldn’t leave is putting it mildly.
Moving onto the Universal Technical Institute Freestyle Competiton, working through ¾ of the field, it was the night’s fastest qualifier Dan Radoni in the hot seat in freestyle with a score of 23. A few trucks later, Anaheim newcomer, Candice Jolly and the new Monster Mutt were obviously a hugely popular with even the youngest of fans. She had a rather short run and rolled it in a disappointing fashion only to her. The fans though loved it. She only scored a 15. In the end it was all Charlie Paulkin and Gravedigger that will add more to the trophy mantel and Charlie mentioned that the phone call to the boss (Dennis Anderson) will be extremely enjoyable tonight.
Our last time for 2007 that we will be here at Anaheim, what a successful west coast tour! Our Monster Jam family had a fantastic blast entertaining your Monster Jam family. For all of us here at Angel Stadium, we’ll see ya in 2008!
