Weekend Race Recap
Friday - 7:30PM
The Tingley
Coliseum was rockin as the Monster Jam Tour rolled through New Mexico. Five awesome
trucks were in the house this weekend. Neil Elliot was the race winner in Maximum
Destruction. Pablo Huffaker took home the wins in the Wheelie Contest and in Monster
Truck Freestyle.
The event started
off with Monster Truck Wheelie Contest. One truck at a time who could do the best
SKY Wheelie. The scores got higher as each truck went. The high score went to
Grave Digger with a 29.
Up next was Monster
Truck Racing. We started with Qualifying. Maximum Destruction would lay down the
fast time with a 16.22 on the Chicago Style course. The brackets were set and
elimination began. The field was narrowed down to Maximum Destruction against
Grave Digger. The crowd was pumped. The two heavy weights would be meeting in
the final. Maximum Destruction would take the narrow victory.
The final event of
the night was Monster Truck Freestyle. One truck at a time, sixty seconds, anything
goes in Freestyle. Once again the scores got higher with each truck. Tuff E Nuff
scored a 21, Hot Wheels got a 23, Blacksmith would receive a 24, Maximum Destruction
a 29, and the only perfect score of the night would go to the winner, Pablo Huffaker
in Grave Digger.
Saturday - 7:30PM
A sell out
crowd witnessed an awesome Monster Jam tonight. There were three different events
for the Monster Trucks tonight, Monster Truck Wheelie Contest, Monster Truck Racing,
and Monster Truck Freestyle. The crowd was awesome and so was the Competition
tonight.
The first event of the night was the Monster Truck Wheelie Contest. Who would
stand their Monster straight up and down? The scores were surprisingly low. Tuff
E Nuff, driven by local drive Jack Koberna scored a 10. Next would be Hot Wheels
driven by Chuck Werner ended up with a 12. Aaron Basil in Blacksmith would get
a 17. Grave Digger did not make the call to the floor. The final truck would get
the highest score of a 23. The Wheelie winner was Neil Elliot in Maximum Destruction.
The Monsters would take the floor quickly with Monster Truck Racing. Maximum Destruction
would be fast qualifier and would get a bye run in the first round.
Blacksmith would defeat Hot Wheels, and Grave Digger defeated Tuff E Nuff. Round
Two was even better than round one. Maximum Destruction defeated Hot Wheels (fast
looser), and Grave Digger defeated Blacksmith in a close one. The final would
come down to two of the best Monster Truck drivers. Huffaker against Elliot. The
race went down to the wire. The first truck across the Ford Finish Line would
be Maximum Destruction.
The final event of the night would be Monster Truck Freestyle. Once again the
scores were pretty low, but very fair to each driver. Tuff E Nuff would get a
15, Hot Wheels a 13, Blacksmith a 21, Maximum Destruction a 24 and the final truck
of the night would let it all hang out. Grave Digger was catching the biggest
air of the weekend. Huffaker did awesome donuts, and topped it all off by landing
upside down at the end of his run. The crowd went crazy. Pablo climbed out of
his truck with enthusiasm and the judges rewarded him with a win with a score
of 29.
