Weekend Race Recap

Friday - 7:30PM - Six of the best Monster Jam Drivers were in Oklahoma City tonight for Monster Jam.  The fans would be treated to an Awesome Monster Jam tonight.  Two of the drivers and one of the trucks in the Ford Center were World Champions.  That would be an amazing treat to the fans.  Three different events for the competitors.

The first event of the weekend would be the 1-800-Safe-Auto Wheelie Competition.  One truck at a time and each driver would get two hits on the crush cars.  The truck with the highest score would be the winner.  The scores were very tight.  Donkey Kong would take the early lead with a 22.  That score lasted for a few trucks.  The came Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter.  You could hear the Ford Power as Creten romped on the accelerator.  Bounty Hunter would take the lead with a 29.  The final truck in the wheelie competition would be Grave Digger driven by Charlie Pauken.  The first hit for Pauken wasn't that spectacular, but the second was Off the Hook!  Pauken actually looked as though he went inverted.  Somehow Paukens Rear end of the truck and maybe part of the roof touched the cars and put the Grave Digger back on all 4 tires.  Grave Digger would be the winner with a perfect score of 30.

The second event would be the Arby's Monster Jam Racing.  The drivers drew for their starting positions before the crowd came inside.  Round One:  Bounty Hunter defeated Donkey Kong, Blue Thunder defeated Scarlet Bandit, and Grave Digger would get a bye run as Batman didn't make it to the Advance Auto Parts Starting Line.  Semi-Finals:  Bounty Hunter defeated Blue Thunder, and Donkey Kong (fast looser) would also get a bye run as Grave Digger would not make it out for the semi-final race.  The finals would have Bounty Hunter against the new truck, Donkey Kong.  The trucks were fairly close until the last corner.  Frank Kreml would have problems behind the wheel of Donkey Kong and that would be enough for Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter to take the win.

The final event of the night would be the UTI Freestyle.  One truck at a time.  Sixty seconds of carnage on the floor.  The track crew had already set up the Warren Cat Van Stack.  Then, during intermission, they would come back out and stack the racing lanes even higher for Freestyle.  The scores were very close.  Scarlet Bandit would go first and Dawn Creten would get a 17.  Donkey Kong was next and earn an 18.  Then Batman would actually make it back out and get a 20.  Bounty Hunter was the next man up and received a 26.  Then Tony Farrell in Blue Thunder would take over with a 27.  The final truck of the night would be Charlie Pauken in Grave Digger.  Pauken looked as though he was on a mission.  Pauken hit the cars and the van stack much harder than anyone else had to that point.  With the clock running out, Pauken launched Grave Digger all the way to the end of the Ford Center, then shut it down with just a few feet to spare.  The crowd and the judges went crazy.  The judges gave Grave Digger a perfect score of 30.  Grave Digger would be the winner.

Saturday - 7:30PM - A sell out crowd was in the Ford Center tonight for Monster Jam.  There would be three different events for the Competitors.  Monster Jam Wheelie Competition, Monster Jam Racing and the crowd favorite Monster Jam Freestyle.

The first event was the Wheelie Competition.  One truck at a time and one hit on the crush cars.  The truck with the highest score would be the winner.  We had three judges randomly picked out of the crowd.  The scores started out fairly low, but would get into the twenties with Batman scoring a 21.  Then Bounty Hunter would go a little higher and bring a nifty 25.  The last truck would be Grave Digger.  Charlie Pauken would come out and try to match his Awesome Wheelie from last night.  Grave Digger's wheelie wasn't quite as good as Friday night, but the judges gave Grave Digger a 29 and the win.

Up next would be the Arby's Monster Jam Racing.  With a stacked line up in Oklahoma tonight the racing would be really close.  Round One:  Batman defeated Scarlet Bandit, Bounty Hunter defeated Donkey Kong, and Blue Thunder defeated Grave Digger.  Grave Digger hit a turn pole and got a five second penalty.  Semi-Finals:  Bounty Hunter defeated Batman, and Blue Thunder defeated Scarlet Bandit (fast looser).  The finals would be two veterans going head to head.  At the Ford Finish Line it was too close to call.  The officials had to watch the large video screen to decide the winner.  Bounty Hunter took the narrow victory.

The final event of the weekend would be the UTI Monster Jam Freestyle.  One truck at a time.  Sixty seconds of anything goes on the Ford Center Floor.  The track crew had set up a Van Stack and also stacked the cars two high in the racing lanes.  The scores started out really close but then Tony Farrell in Blue Thunder would take the lead with a 26.  That score would hold up until the final truck.  Grave Digger would tear the place apart again tonight.  The truck would catch the biggest air and jump way further than all of the rest of the trucks.  The judges would give Grave Digger a 28 and the Win.
