Weekend Race Recap
An interesting start of a fantastic evening took place during the Built Ford Tough Party In The Pits today when both Dennis and Adam Anderson were exchanging comments most of the afternoon. It was trash talking much like you see in the NBA or NFL. It just happened to be one of the largest pit parties in recent history as well, so everyone was well aware of the brewing rivalry.
The fans just knew something was going to bubble over when in the semi-finals it was an exact replay of the 2006 World Finals racing action. And it was only the 3rd round tonight when Dennis Anderson & GraveDigger was lined up against Jimmy Creten and Bounty Hunter. It seemed as if Creten was suffering from some sort of problem with his transmission heading over the last set of cars as it sounded like Bounty Hunter was over revving badly and Digger went on for the win and another appearance in the finals of racing. Meanwhile, Creten’s new teammate, Kreg Christensen and Iron Outlaw had worked their way methodically through the field to earn another shot at a racing championship. Well guess what, much to the amusement of Jimmy Creten, it was all Christensen and Outlaw in racing. It really quieted down the crowd when Iron Outlaw crossed the Built Ford Tough Finish Line in front of Digger.
Finally by the end of the night the fans were more than ready for the UTI Monster Jam Freestyle Competition. 12 monster trucks, 40,000+ screaming fans, recipe for a TON of fun. Even the USHRA officials were anxious for this one to get going. The early leader with a score of 22 was once again, Kreg Christensen & Iron Outlaw. Even for just a moment, Kreg was looking at a possible “double down” evening. Dan Rodoni and The Patriot knocked him off the top spot with a 24, which held up for exactly one truck. Jimmy Creten and Bounty Hunter bettered it by 1 point to take the lead. Damon Bradshaw and Air Force tied for the lead on the next run. And that lasted for exactly one truck. George Belhan and Escalade took the lead by one point again as he scored a 26. Two trucks remaining and it was the Anderson boys. Adam momentarily took the lead with a very impressive run and a 27. Guess what, the door was left open if even just a bit. Dennis took advantage and blew the socks off of every single fan in their seat. As usual Digger took different angles at every obstacle, higher jumps, faster between each hit and absolutely huge momentum from hit to hit. In GraveDigger fashion another perfect 30.
As interesting as the day started, it ended in even better fashion. 40,000 ecstatic fans already looking forward to 2009!
