Weekend Race Recap
Friday-7:30
The fans of Sacramento, CA once again came out in droves to support the superstars of the USHRA Monster Jam.
After an opening to remember that included a tribute to our heroes that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Hummvee from our friends at www.neverforgerourfallen.com had the crowd in tears. The monsters were sure ready to entertain!
In the wheelie contest it wasn’t a big surprise to see Chad Tingler and Grave Digger repeat as champion. This is the very venue that he was awarded the Scotty for best wheelie in an arena in 2007.
Wheelie Results:
Pitbull 11
Airbourne Ranger 12
Air Force Afterburner 17
Pastrana 199 16
TAZ 21
Grave Digger 26
With Courtney Jolly out of action this week it was nice to see Lee Odonall step in and drive the Pastrana 199 truck to the race win on Friday night. It was a close night of racing with all but one of the matches to the instant replay. A sign of things to come in the coming nights.
With the Arco Arena being one of the smallest arenas on tour Monster Freestyle always can be interesting. The drivers for the most part did all they could with the small venue and the moister that was in the dirt from outside. After the first four trucks went the highest marking was from Pastrana 199. Then came Adam Anderson…..when Adam first arrived at Arco today Sherry Smallwood greeted him with a friendly “this place is not big enough for you” The fast rising star proved he could handle the small arenas as well as he can a stadium. Taz turned in a strong 27 point run. 27 points is never safe when the black and green wrecking machine waits on deck. Chad and Grave Digger left no stone unturned and I don’t believe ever letting off the throttle. After watching Adam and Taz fly across the Arco Arena floor by way of the FMX landing ramp Chad knew he had to do the same and try to fly even farther. Chad did just that to the crowds approval and a controversial decision by our judges giving Grave Digger the win by the slim margin of 1 point and a total of 28.

Well tonight will be a tough show to top not only this weekend but for any other Monster Jam on the year!
Monster Jam played host to a sold out Arco Arena. The Monsters, Pro Arena Trucks and FMX did not disappoint in fact the left the fans craving even more. Our opening ceremonies once again left very few dry eyes in the building. With the US Air Force Honor guard and the Hummvee from www.neverforgetourfallen.com it was tough to imagine the hair not standing on any ones arms.
Saturday night proved to be Grave Diggers night! Setting the stage in the Wheelie Contest, Chad Tingler piloted Grave Digger to its second straight wheelie victory with a near perfect 28.
Wheelie Results:
Pitbull 15
Airborne Ranger 12
Air Force Afterburner 22
Pastrana 199 19
Taz 25
Grave Digger 28
Pro Arena Trucks was also an amazing competition tonight. The USHRA Officials decided to add a lap to the already demanding track. Randy Avery barely edged out Friday nights champion Tom Jones to gain the victory.
The Monster racing once again proved to be the toughest competition of the night with almost each race going to the instant replay. Grave Digger would lose in round one of racing and it looked like his possible trifecta would be ended by Air Force Afterburner and Damon Bradshaw. But after the first round results were in Digger would get a second chance and return for round 2 as the fastest loser where he would face Airborne Ranger. Air Force Afterburner watched as Pastrana 199 who won it all on Friday would advance past Taz to the Semi’s. Grave Digger took down Airborne Ranger and Air Force Afterburner would end Lee O’donnol’s chance at a repete in the racing. Setting up a rematch from round one, Grave Digger took advantage of his second chance and edged out Afterburner in the closest race of the evening.
Chad Tingler and Grave Digger finished off the trifecta with a win in the freestyle! After the first three trucks had gone Damon Bradshaw and Afterburner set the bar high for the remaining 2 with a redemption run after his disappointing Friday showing by nailing every obstacle on the arena floor to the judge’s approval and a 26. Adam Anderson and Taz came next and brought the crowd to their feet and changed the leader board with another 27. Then Grave Digger decided to keep them on their feet by never letting off the throttle once and hitting every obstacle in every direction and scoring the weekends first perfect 30!

Sunday - 7:30 -
Once again Sacramento Monster Jam fans do not disappoint! The superstars of Monster Jam entertained a sell out crowd for the second straight performance.
Once again I want to say thank you to Deborah Getz and her wonderful hummvee in memory of her son who was killed in action Feb, 17 2007 in operation enduring freedom in Afghanistan. Her son PFC Kristopher Thomas and the rest of his unit were killed when their helicopter went down. They are remembered on the we site www.neverforgetourfallen.com

Airborne Ranger 16
Air Force Afterburner 21
Pastrana 199 23
Taz 23
Grave Digger 28
In the Monster truck racing it would be a repete winner from the weekend here in Sacramento. But maybe not the one that first comes to mind. That’s right Lee O’donnald and Pastrana 199 would edge Adam Anderson and Taz in the racing final.
The freestyle once again proved to be the fan favorite and the superstars of Monster Jam lived up to their name. Airborne Ranger with Joe Cypher behind the wheel and Pastrana 199 both improved on their previous 2 freestyle runs. But so did Damon Bradshaw and the Air Force Afterburner Damon put together one of the most solid runs of the weekend that included my vote (if I had one) for the best save in an arena for 2008! Taz came out and stepped up his game as well, he also turned in his best run of the weekend tying Afterburners score of 28. Chad Tingler and Grave Digger would leave no obstacle untouched hitting everything at least three times to a crowd approving perfect 30!
