Weekend Race Recap
FRIDAY
Monster Jam fans braved 30 below weather in the Alberta Capital of Edmonton for the 2008 Partsource Monster Jam at Rexall Place to see a star-studded lineup. The plethora of competitors included Travis Pastrana’s 199 (Cameron McQueen), Maniac (Don Frankish), Jurassic Attack (Kristy Edge), Team Suzuki (Bobby Parr), El Toro Loco (Lupe Sosa), and Grave Digger, driven by Chad Tingler.
The night began with the Monster Jam Wheelie Competition. Grave Digger driver Chad Tingler took the win with 26 points, beating out Lupe Sosa in El Toro Loco who earned a score of 22. Third place went to Team Suzuki with a score of 19, Travis Pastrana’s 199 rounded out the competition with 15 points. Both Jurassic Attack and Maniac did not compete due to some mechanical problems.

Hot Wheels Monster Jam Racing brackets were set early and saw a double Elimination Event. Round One saw vet vs. Rookie as Grave Digger defeated Travis Pastrana 199, and Team Suzuki snuck by El Toro Loco.
Semi Final Racing action matched Grave Digger against El Toro Loco, with Digger. Team Suzuki vs Travis Pastrana 199. Team Suzuki disposed of Pastrana 199 in similar fashion.
The Hot Wheels Monster Jam Racing Final would prove to be a very close finish. Monster Jam stars Grave Digger and Team Suzuki squared off at the starting line and everyone knew that neither driver would be willing to give an inch. When the lights turned green both trucks launched hard and the race was on. The competitors stayed very close throughout the race but after careful review of video footage at the finish line it was determined that Chad Tingler in Grave Digger was the winner.
Partsource Freestyle Competition was an intense affair which Chad Tingler completing the Triple Crown with a huge win after getting some huge competition from the 2004 World Finals Freestyle Champion Lupe Sosa in El Toro Loco, along with Bobby Parr and Cameron McQueen in Team Suzuki and Travis Pastrana 199 respectively. But in the end it was Chad Tingler of Grave Digger run that was so strong, in fact, his huge Long Jumps were simply astounding; at times he looked like he was going to sail right out of the stadium. The judges were certainly impressed by his efforts and gave him a winning score of 28.

SATURDAY
The capacity crowd huge crowd went home hoarse from all the screaming and were jacked from all the action at Rexall Place for Partsource Monster Jam. It was the battle of two legendary trucks as Chad Tingler of Grave Digger and Lupe Sosa of El Toro Loco got some sick air and walked over the cars only to be tied after the competition with a score of 19. After a video review of both runs, it was determined by the Monster Jam officials that Lupe had the better run and was declared the winner.

The Hot Wheel Monster Jam Racing event pitted the 2 time Canadian champ and Alberta Born Don Frankish going up against Friday nights overall bracket winner Chad Tingler and Grave Digger. An Alberta victory was not to be as Grave Digger squeaked out a narrow victory. Kristy Edge moved to the second round as Bobby Parr and his Team Suzuki could not answer the bell and was forced to skip the racing event. In what a lot considered an upset, Cameron McQueen and Pastrana 199 defeated 20 plus year vet Lupe Sosa with El Toro Loco. Then he went on to defeat crowd favorite Jurassic Attack to make his way to the final to face Digger who got to the final by defeating first round fastest loser timed El Toro Loco.
In the final, Chad made it two nights in a row taking home the checkered flag in one of the closest races ever at Rexall Place history.
The Partsource Freestyle Competition was a very tightly judged event with not one competitor cracking the 20 point barrier. When the dust and carnage settled….it was Chad Tingler of Grave Digger coming out ahead in a closely fought freestyle, one that took video replay to determine a winner…

Exciting FMX and Quad Wars featuring Team Calgary coming back with a much needed win over Team Edmonton setting up the rubber match for Sunday Afternoon! It was De ja vu all over again and would prove to be a historic evening for a former FMX turned Monster Truck Driver for the third and final day of Partsource Monster Jam at Rexall place in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
SUNDAY
Kicking things off would be Monster Wheelie which saw some solid passes and a few Wow passes as well. Did I mention something about De ja…er..I did…a rematch of Saturday nights Wheelie final and with the same Result. El Toro Loco and Grave Digger tied with 24. it took a judges decision to determine Lupe Sosa adding more hardware to his mantle and taking home top Honors in the Wheelie Competition.

Up next was Monster Racing and the drivers were ready. In the Monster Semi there was Don Frankish and Maniac taking on the previous two night winner Grave Digger. In the Other Semi it was the Rookie vs the vet with the ROOKIE teaching the 22 year veteran Lupe Sosa of El Toro Loco a lesson, as Cameron McQueen of Pastrana 199 edged out a tight Victory setting up for this historic final. Like a Storybook or Hollywood finish, in only his second event EVER, Cameron defeated the legendary Grave Digger and giving Cameron his first ever career win.
It all comes down to Freestyle. Everyone was on their feet. Most notable were the runs by the 2004 World Finals Freestyle Champion El Toro Loco, and Bobby Parr who attacked the freestyle ramp and everything in its sight. But once again it came down to two. It was a repeat of Saturday night with Maniac and Grave Digger being tied with judges determining the winner…That winner was Grave Digger!!!
