Weekend Race Recap

 Friday 7:30

The Cajun Dome was rocking to a near sell out crowd for the first of two shows. There was four out of the six drivers here that have qualifyed for the Monster Jam NGK World finals as Frank Kremel in Donkey Kong was the 23rd selected here tonight.

The first win of the night went to Bounty Hunter who scored a 24 in the wheelie contest beating out Digger who also scored a 24. The extra judge that was in place scored Creten the win in the tie breaker by two extra points. Donkey Kong was third with a close 23 followed by Eliminator with a 21. War Wizzard who went first in the contest had a great wheelie but only scored a 17 and Scarlet Bandit rounded out the field with a 15.

Raceing was next and the surprise went to War wizzard who came from the fast loser possition to knock out Bounty Hunter in the semi finals and Grave Digger in the finals. Each race from there was close as Digger beat War Wizzard in round one by inches and Donkey Kong in the semi finals. In other action Bounty Hunter barely got buy his wife Dawn who put up a great battle in round one and as well as Donkey Kong beating out Eliminator.

Freestyle was also close as all six trucks battled it out for the Southern Ford dealers freestyle championship. War Wizzard was to go first but had problems with getting the truck started so Eliminator was first. Gregg Adams set the tone with a solid run and a score of 16. Scarlet Bandit was next and had the first sick air off the elevated van stack to score a 23 as Donkey Kong fell short with a 22. Bounty Hunter knew Grave Digger was last to go so Jimmy stepped it up and spun the only doughnut of the night on a near impossible tacky dirt floor. That gave him the edge and scored another win with a score of 27. Digger fell one point short as he had some sick air but not enough momentum through the run to win.

Cannon Lady and quad wars thrilled the fans with Louisiana taking home the trophy in quad wars. The show tomorrow night is expected to be a sell out and I can't wait for the awesome fans here at the Cajun Dome.

Saturday 7:30

A sold out crowd was on the edge of there seat all night with great action coming from all six trucks in all three events. This was the last show before the Monster Jam NGK World finals and each driver let it all hang out to get in the last win of the weekend.

The wheelie contest was first and Grave Digger finally got his first win of the weekend by scoring a 28 with an awesome sky wheelie. Bounty and War Wizzard was next with scores of 26 as Donkey Kong followed with a 24. Eliminator had a good wheelie scoring a 19 as Sarlet Bandit rounded the field out with an 18.

Racing was next and Digger kept up the pace as he won the racing event by beating War Wizzard in the finals. All the races were close as Digger took out Bandit in round one and Donkey Kong in the semi finals. War Wizzard made it to the finals by beating Donkey Kong in the first round and Bounty Hunter in the semi finals. In other races Boutny Hunter defeated Eliminator in a very close race.

Freestyle was wild as War Wizzard and Donkey Kong both rolled over in awesome style as well as a great save by the winner Bounty Hunter at the end of his run. Bounty scored a 27 for that victory as Digger fell short with a 21. Donkey Kong was second with some sick air and a 26 followed up by War Wizzard with a 22.  Scarlet Bandit again had great air off the van stack but was shorted for a score of 20 as Eliminator rounded out the field with an 18.

This was an awesome night as was the first quarter of monster jam. I will be back in april when I head to California for another Monster Jam.
