Weekend Race Recap

Saturday 7:00 p.m. - Candice Jolly recorded the biggest victory of her budding career when she powered Monster Mutt Dalmatian to the racing win, and Linsey Weenk's high flying performance in Blue Thunder #1 edged out World Champion Adam Anderson for the freestyle win at the third annual Monsters on Main Street in front of a capacity crowd at the Houston Motorsports Park.

A weekend full of special activitiies provided by Ford Trucks to Monsters on Main Streert winner Michelle Stockton of League City, TX, culminated with the event Saturday night at the beautiful, multi-use motorsports complex in Houston. With the excited crowd on fire all night long, the action opened with a team wheelie contest won by the Blue Thunder team of Weenk and Frank Krmel.

Next the race bracket excitement began on a long straight line course and Jolly's renounced ability to cut a light as fast or faster than anyone in  Monster Jam paid off all night. First, Candice eliminated Krmel in the opening round to set up a Monster Jam first in the semifinals - here first ever head-to head race against sister Courtney. Courtney drove Pastrana 199 to the win over popular Texas David Smith in King Krunch setting up the historic first time battle of sisters, which Candice's Monster Mutt won by a matter of feet to earn a berth in the Built Ford Tough Championship race. Her opponent would be Anderson, who roared through the bottom of the bracket by eliminating reigning World Racing Champion John Seasock in Batman and Weenk's Blue Thunder. Anderson barely made the call for the finale after flooding the engine due to valve issues, but just as Weenk strapped back in Blue Thunder to take his place in the title race Anderson got Taz to fire and pulled to the starting line. In the Championship Race, again Jolly cut an awesome starting line, getting a slight edge that she held all the way to the finish.  The Mutt edged Taz for the win.

Onto freestyle where Krmel set the bar high early with a blistering run in Blue Thunder #2, but Courtney Jolly moved into the hot seat with one of her best performances ever. David Smith turned the crowd on in his new King Krunch Ford and tied Pastrana 199 for the lead until Seasock's blistering donuts and big air grabbed the lead for Batman. The reigning freestyle champ was up to the challenge however and "double-A" put Taz way up into the muggy Texas night. Anderson's huge air grabbed the lead with a score of 27 from the Stockton family, scoring the event from the judging stand, with only one more truck to run. That truck was Blue Thunder #1 with Weenk answering Anderson's challenge. Weenk combined some of the night's biggest air with several incredible saves and Weenk eeked out a two point win for the Blue Thunder team over the current freestyle title holder.
