Weekend Race Recap
Monster Jam Invades Comcast Events Center
Everett Washington
By: Joe Lowe Monster Jam announcer
Tom Meents wanted to make new friends and fans on his first visit to Everett. Judging from the first few minutes of the very first Summer Heat event in Everett Washington one would have thought that was a very tall order. Maximum Destruction broke during the opening. Things were fixed but the seven time World Champion had problems again after he defeated Kreg Christenson and his Iron Outlaw truck in racing. Crews again worked on the truck and he came out strong in the donut competition and ultimately won it all in freestyle too. What a comeback but at what cost? "We will have to work late tonight and get up early to insure the truck is ready for tomorrow", said Meents. "These other guys are just waiting for us to miss a beat and then we are done. The only way to prevent that is to work harder tonight, so we will. The name is Maximum Destruction and that also means maximum work to keep the truck running at top performance."
The only event Max D. didnt win was the Wheelie Competition while the crew was working on the truck. Teammate Chuck Werner had a rear tire go flat after his wheelie giving double duty to the already hard working support staff. As Larry the Cable Guy says They had to Get er Done.
Great performances by Roger Stidell in Captain USA, Daren Miques aboard Bounty Hunter and Kreg Christenson in Iron Outlaw gave fans plenty of excitement and always something to cheer about.
The evenings event also included Quad Wars between Team Oregon and Team Washington with the Washington team winning the second heat and the main.
The Washington Quarter Midget Racers gave fans a thrill as the 6-13 yr old racers brought their vehicles to the Comcast Events Center for the first time.

The second night of Monster Jam at the ComCast Event Center in Everett Washington brought a new excitement to town. Tom Meents took Maximum Destruction to a win early with the Wheelie Contest but he won with a score of 24 over Iron Outlaw driven by Kreg Christenson who scored 23. In racing Max D. was unable to blow past Iron Outlaw. Outlaw won racing by inches setting up a showdown for the second half.
Quad Wars saw Team Washington take both the first and second heats but the local favorites lost the main to Team Oregon. Both teams vowed to return next year for a repeat of the showdown.
In the second half Maximum Destruction came back to defeat teammate Chuck Werner driving Bulldozer. Max D. also dominated in Freestyle but for the second night in a row Tom Meents was denied a clean sweep due to the loss in racing.
