WHAT MAKES THUNDER NATIONALS DIFFERENT FROM A MONSTER JAM?

There are no jumps, there are no ramps and there is no room for forgiveness! The racecourse is unique from all other U.S. Hot Rod Association events - there is no dirt! That means only one thing - a rock hard concrete landing for a ten thousand pound monster truck flying through the air!

There is only one place to see the bad boys of the U.S. Hot Rod Association Monster trucks dual it out in a high flyin', side by side war on concrete and it's at the U.S. Hot Rod Thunder Nationals. For seventeen years, millions of fans have witnessed this extreme form of racing making it the - "Motorsports event for the whole family!"

Without the advantage of ramps to soar over the cars, the drivers are forced to hit the stack of cars head on. Imagine taking your pick-up truck and hitting a wall, head on at 40 miles an hour. Now image having 1,500 horsepower to control and 66" tires that can send you straight up and down on your tailgate. Hold on! You're in for the wheelie of your life and a little too much gas can send you over on your lid. Why else do they call it a roll cage?

Smoke barrels from the pivot tire as it burns the rubber off during the donut contest. To achieve a perfect 10 score during this competition, the driver must maneuver the truck into a cyclone by creating spinning action on one tire. As if that wasn't enough of a monstrous motorsports feat to accomplish, try doing it without a steering wheel!

You want more - we got more! Each event will also feature Outlaw Super Trucks or Quad Wars going as many as four wide in the corners towards the checkered flag. You may also witness one of the thrills of the Cannon Lady; Moto Sky Fly; Human Bomb; or even a fire-breathing, car-eating transformer.

Thunder National events flip-flop the competition elements dirt-lovers have come to know and love at the Monster Jam.  Freestyle competition is done in the first half of the show because, frankly, racing can be devasting to the trucks.  The core of Thunder National competition Wheelie Contests, Donut Contests and Freestyle Contests.  Each truck gets scored - in the freestyle manner, by the audience, and the points are carried to the event's competition end.

If you aren't on your feet in excitement yet, we still haven't gone monster truck racing! The U.S. Hot Rod Thunder Nationals has it all - racing, freestyle, outrageous motorsports dare devils and more! That's what makes it the "Motorsports Event for the Whole Family."

Racing is side by side bracket racing.  No ramps or dirt hills ease the trucks on the crush car obstacles.  This is metal, rubber, concrete, and metal, folks.  One false move and sparks are flying and the driver's being unbuckled and his truck is being hauled off its lid!
