TRUCK
HISTORY
Obsession got its start when driver Rick Swanson sold his 1970 Bronco show truck and traded in for a Monster Truck. To pay for the truck, Rick worked for a trucking company and he also managed a printed circuit board shop owned by his father.
Obsession got its name after Rick’s obsession with trucks. The color scheme was created after his wife, Jill, hosted a party where the plates were yellow, teal, and purple. They liked the way the colors looked together and decided to use them on the truck. These days, Obsession is sporting a different color than we may have been used to seeing with teal, yellow, and orange.
Since Rick first started racing on the Monster Jam® circuit, he can be seen in events up to 40 weekends per year in Obsession. They are actively working on their second Monster Truck, which they hope to pass along to their future driver and son, Eric. Until then, you can see Rick in Obsession on SPEED Channel, and at Monster Jam events around the country.
