MY FIRST DAY OF DESTRUCTION
Ryan Tychsen

Today I got into Las Vegas for my first day of coverage of the Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Final for monsterjamonline.com.  This is my first Monster Jam World Finals and I can’t think of a better one to start my experience with the biggest motor sport event of the year.

Being a long time fan of Monster Jam, I never thought that I would get the opportunity to get such an up-close and in-depth look at every thing behind the scenes at the Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals.  From the drivers in the pits working on their own trucks, to seeing pieces of truck bodies close enough to make out every detail in the art, it was amazing to get so close to things that I’ve only seen in photos.

One particular experience that really made today special was being able to walk down Thunder Alley into Sam Boyd Stadium.  As I walked in, I could only imagine what must go through a driver’s mind when they are flying down this straight away only to make a hard turn then go through the finish line jump.  The racing champion must have nerves of steel.

While I was on the stadium floor, I couldn’t help but check out some of the jumps.  All 100+ feet of the triple is amazing.  I can’t wait for freestyle on Saturday.  It will be incredible to see a truck clear this two school bus high behemoth.  Even better then clearing the triple will be the madness when drivers don’t make it to the other side.

Make sure to check out more of my photos in the Photo Section of monsterjamonline.com
