AURORA, Ill. – (April 21, 2008) In front of a sold-out Monster Jam® World Finals crowd at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on March 29, Michelle Stockton, of League City, Texas, chose the key that started a Built Ford Tough Super Duty®, putting the wheels in motion to an experience that her hometown will never forget.
For the third consecutive year, Monster Jam and Ford Trucks have given one lucky fan a hometown Monster Jam. As the Monsters On Mainstreet Grand Prize winner, Stockton will be able to invite up to 1,000 of her closest friends and family to join in on this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Local charities, community organizations and Ford dealers will also receive complimentary tickets for the show.
About 40,000 people entered the sweepstakes through the official website, MonstersOnMainstreet.com. Stockton was one of five finalists flown to Las Vegas with three guests on an all-expenses paid VIP trip to take in the Monster Jam World Finals. In the company of more than 37,000 fans and the other four finalists (Laura Keppel of Montoursville, Pa., Angelina Jones of Rochester, N.Y., Timothy Stutts of Rockingham, N.C., and Debbie Stohl of Lewis Center, Ohio) Stockton randomly selected the key that started the 2008 Ford Super Duty F-450 Pickup.
Stockton’s lucky turn of fate enabled her to host very own Monster Jam near League City, Texas this summer. The event will include a Built Ford Tough Party in the Pits, and all the noise, dirt and excitement that goes along with Monster Jam competitions. The exact location of the Monsters On Mainstreet show in the League City area will be announced shortly.
“My family loves Monster Jam, and we go to both events in Houston every year,” said Stockton. “I’ve registered for Monsters On Mainstreet for the last three years, and we were amazed to be among the finalists this time! This shows that persistence pays off and anyone can win.”
“Our experience at the Monster Jam World Finals this year as a Monsters On Mainstreet VIP trip winner was amazing – the qualifying rounds on Friday night were really exciting, and the races on Saturday were so close. The best part was winning the grand prize and getting a big hug from my son, Ryan. As I turned the ignition key and the lights came on, I knew that the truck would start, though I still could not believe it! It was funny to be recognized and see people pointing to me and saying, ‘she’s the one!’ “
“I want to thank all of the people at Ford Trucks and Live Nation Motor Sports for providing this extraordinary experience. I would also like to thank the Monster Jam drivers for opening up their private world for the fans; you are all greatly appreciated and loved. I know that the rest of this ride will be as memorable as the Monster Jam World Finals were. We can’t wait to introduce everyone to League City this summer!”
Todd Eckert, Ford Truck/SUV Marketing Communications and Alliances Manager said, “The 2008 Built Ford Tough Monsters On Mainstreet sweepstakes was an overwhelming success. We appreciate everyone who entered, and we enjoyed hosting our five finalists at the Monster Jam World Finals. We are especially excited for Michelle, her family and the community of League City, Texas. Blue Thunder® and a host of other monster trucks will roll into their town to participate in a racing and freestyle competition that only Monster Jam and Ford Trucks could put together. After Monsters On Mainstreet this summer, League City will never be the same!”
Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc. also announced today that Ford Trucks will continue their alliance as the Official Truck of Monster Jam.
"For over 10 years, Ford Trucks has been a key sponsor with Live Nation Motor Sports in Monster Jam.” said Charlie Mancuso, president of Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc., "We are thrilled that they will be part of our Monster Jam family for years to come as the Official Truck of Monster Jam. Monster Jam fans across America know Ford Trucks and Monster Jam are synonymous.
The Monsters On Mainstreet promotion is one of the most powerful programs ever executed with Monster Jam, and we are confident this year’s Monsters On Mainstreet event in Texas will be an experience the Stockton Family will never forget. What can be better than hosting your own Monster Jam in your home town? All this is possible because of the commitment and generosity of Ford Trucks giving back to our valued customers.”
“Built Ford Tough Ford Trucks is proud of its partnership with Monster Jam and greatly appreciates the fans whose enthusiasm and support make Monster Jam the exciting sport that it is today,” said Eckert. “Our partnership is truly a natural fit, bringing together the F-Series, America’s most capable and best selling truck for 31 years running, and Monster Jam, the premier monster truck tour in the world. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship and building the sport further with unique promotions like Monsters On Mainstreet.”
